Quotes from Qualifying for Rounds 3 & 4

Round 3 Qualifying

Philip Geipel
Nr 24 Argo Racing Lamborghini Gallardo LP560

It wasn’t easy. At first, we had a perfect second qualifying, second time pole position. But yesterday we had big electrical problems with the car; we were not able to drive in the second practice. When we started the car, it turned off 5 meters later. Because of that, we had no time to practice to find a perfect setup. So we took the setup of the second car and saw if it would work with my driving style. It was perfect. I’m getting on well with my new team mate, it’s perfect. Let’s see what happens in the race.”

Nikolaus Mayr Melnhof
Nr9 Team S-Berg Racing BMW Alpina B6 GT3

“It’s my second race in GT3 and I want to thank the team owner Hans who put faith in me this year. After the big crash in Silverstone and coming back here and having confidence again in the car which the team put up really well. It was a really good car today. And we had a lot traffic/trouble yesterday and couldn’t really make a setup. I’m really happy to be on the second row. The track’s very nice. It was tricky at the beginning, there were a lot of wet patches, especially in the difficult corners, uphill here. Then I went out in the last 2 minutes and did a good lap.”

Daniel Keilwitz
Nr101 Callaway Racing Corvette Z06R GT3

“Third position is good for the race. The corvette is strong here, but we have more kilos and on this circuit with the uphill bits, it’s not easy to drive with more weight. I think we have a good position for the race. If everything works fine, we have a good chance to finish on the podium.”

Round 4 Qualifying
Diego Alessi
Nr 87 Chad Racing Ferrari 430 Scuderia

“I’m very happy. Obviously I have to thank the team who had a big job yesterday. We came here already confident about the performance of the car here. We made a big step from Silverstone. I think the track is more for Ferrari here. Initially we had some oversteering. We had a perfect job for today. We started with quite a high tyre pressure because of the conditions of the track was still slightly humid. I had a very good fast lap. I managed quite a clear lap. We set the pole and we’re very happy.”

Christian Hohenadel
Nr101 Callaway Racing Corvette Z06R GT3
“I think the weight is affecting our car, especially at this track with all the uphills and downhills, you feel it a little bit. For us, for the team it’s good. I’m 2nd in my qualifying, Dan is 3rd, the focus is on the race. Hopefully we’ll finish in the top three in both races. I think we placed very good in the qualifying. It’s my first time here; it’s a very nice track, everything is 3rd gear, so you can’t push that much, but it’s nice.”

Frederic Makowiecki
Nr1 Hexis AMR Aston Martin DBRS9

“Yesterday we worked a lot for the race. That’s why this morning the balance of the car was not perfect. I think we have a very good balance, a really good car for the race. I hope we can go on the podium this weekend. The GT1 and GT3 cars aren’t very different, just use the car a bit differently. When we look at the details, there’s only 4 or 5 tenths between the two cars, so it’s not very different.”
